Review - One little Word

You might remember this post from back in January when I chose my word for the year and signed up for Ali Edwards One Little Word project. As the year is starting to draw to a close I thought I should perhaps update you. I wasn't really getting to grips with my word (which was Strengthen), so in March/April time I changed it to the word GROW, which seemed to fit better with what my intentions were for the year.

In some areas I have managed this well and in others not so. I certainly have not managed to keep up with Ali's project, despite buying folders etc.

My main area in which I feel my word has applied so far this year has been in my job, which I started in May. I am now working almost full-time for The Salvation Army and really enjoying it. It does take up a lot more of my time and so other things (like crafting) have had to take a bit of a back seat. It has taken me time to get used to working every day again, which I have not done for a good few years! I feel my work is enabling me to grow in many ways, which is good.

I have completed several knitting projects, which I have still to photo and blog about. My stash of wool has also grown this year - oops!

One area in which I have not done so well is healthy eating and exercise - so need to do something about that!

If you chose a word for the year how are you doing so far?

One Little Word

For several years now I have joined in with the idea of One Little Word. You can find details about this at Ali Edwards' blog

My words in previous years have been Positive, Calm, Focus, Achieve, Be, Embrace. I found it quite difficult this year to choose a word. I wanted to build on previous words and also be positive. I have eventually chosen the word STRENGTHEN.

I feel that this will help me to build on what I have learned recently about stress management and keeping better routines going, also strengthening my new life here in Edinburgh. I would also like to Strengthen my quiet times with God, and what I have been learning and experiencing in my prayer course. Craft wise I would like to Strengthen my interest and commitment to actually doing some craft work. Healthwise I would like to Strengthen my fitness and healthy living.

I think this will be my Bible verse for the year "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" Phillipians 4:13.

I have done something different this year and have signed up for Ali Edwards One Little Word, so that I can keep my word more visible this year.

Other projects I have signed up for are 52 Weeks of Psalms and Journal 52. both free classes.

Have you chosen a word for the year? What projects have you signed up for?

One Little Word 2012

Well after much deliberation and much hilarity in our household I have come to a decision about my word for 2012. Although why it is so much easier to choose words for other people in the house I am not sure.

Anyway my word for 2012 is BE

as in Be still, Be content, Be creative.

There are some part of my life at the moment that are not what I would choose yet I have no real control over them, so instead of worrying and fretting I am going to BE content in whatever situation I find myself in. I hope to be able to put more trust in God and to be still and hear what He is saying to me in my life. There are also lots of different ways in which I would like to BE creative this year and some of them start today, as mentioned in a previous post - so watch this space.

Have you decided what your word for the year is going to be?
