Art Every Day Month - Day 2

Well I was busy last night! I did the next page in my Gratitude Journal and made some Christmas cards.

I was grateful for the Scripture Union group at our local school, which I help run. We have about 20 children who come along each week to hear about God. This year the P7s, who have been coming regularly since P4, have asked for  a smaller group for themselves where they can go deeper, we have called this group Scripture Union Advance.

Our Church is having a Christmas sales table at a Quiz in a couple of weeks, so I thought I would make some Christmas cards, using up some decopatch sheets I have had for some time! Yes, I am decluttering and tidying all my craft stuff this week.

WOYWW

As I have finally managed to start crafting again thought I would post something for Whats On Your Workdesk Wednesday. As it is the last week of school (hurrah) I had to make some Thank You cards for the teachers. I used some scrap paper, added some flowers and a gem in the middle.

Andrew is leaving Primary School this year and starting the Academy after the holidays, so I have been working on a mini-book for him. I have done a page for each school year with a school photo and some things he could remember about each year, like his teacher, what his topics were, what trips he went on. Tomorrow is his closing church service and then they have a BBQ in the afternoon, then on Friday they go round and get everyone to sign their school polo shirts.

It feels a bit sad as it is the end of an era - that is my parental involvement finished with primary school after this week. Where did the years go???

Waterfall Card

I did another workshop last night, the last until after the summer. We were doing waterfall cards, which all the ladies enjoyed. Here are the instructions I gave out, in case anyone wants to know how to make one. They are really very easy to make but very effective.

Instructions for use with C6 size card (A5 folded over).

Stamp or decorate background of card.
Cut four squares 2” x 2”, stamp your design onto these squares.
Cut a strip of card 9” x 2”. Start at end of strip, score 2”, 2 ¾”, 3 ½” and 4 ¼ “ . Fold along scored lines. (Piece A)
Cut a strip ¾” x 4” attach to front of card with eyelets or brads, near bottom of card.

Attach first piece of card (piece A) to horizontal strip by sliding longest section of card between horizontal strip and the card, making sure to centre it. Line up the very edge of the scored end of piece A with bottom of horizontal strip and attach with adhesive. Please make sure you do not attach the scored side and the longest section of piece A together.
Attach your first stamped square to the bottom space at the scored end of piece A.
Apply adhesive to the scored sections of piece A only and attach remaining stamped squares.
Attach eyelet and ribbon to the bottom of piece A.

You should now be able to gently pull the bottom of longest section of piece A down and watch the stamped images flip one at a time and slide behind piece A.

Watercolours

What a glorious day today - very very hot! I started to do some gardening this afternoon then decided it was really too hot so I stopped.

I had another workshop tonight, this time on stamping with watercolours. The first two cards I have done using a water-misting technique. After applying the colour to the stamp I then sprayed it lightly with water and then stamped onto watercolour paper.

This iris stamp has to be one of my all time favourite stamps, I bought it many many years ago, and have used it frequently in many different ways.

I did this last card by creating a wash using watercolour pencils, then tore the edges and inked them with chalk ink, the middle section is a word stamp done by water-misting, then when it was dry I stamped the small flower in the bottom right corner, also using water-misting, the flower in the top left was stamped separately onto watercolour paper then cut out and added on using a 3d foam pad.

Workshop

I had another successful workshop on Wednesday night, this time we were doing 3D decoupage. A few of the ladies had tried this before and they all really enjoyed it. This first card we did was using a die cut sheet where all you had to do was pop out the numbered parts and assemble the card. This was the first time I had used a pre-cut sheet as I normally cut out my own pieces, it was fine but I still think I prefer cutting my own pictures.

The second card we did was using pictures that they had to decide what and where to cut themselves, these are the sheets I normally use. They did actually enjoy deciding where and what to cut, and they all though it was good to try something they maybe won't have chosen themselves.

First Workshop

I'm just back from doing my first workshop at our local craft shop and it went very well. It was for a beginners stamping class and there were 6 ladies there, some had done some stamping before and some hadnt done any. They were all lovely and enjoyed themselves. Here are the cards we were doing.

This first one was quite simple, the flowers are embossed, then coloured in with pens. The stamps were unmounted sets from Woodware. I used a corner punch for the edges of the card and the mounts.

The second one was using shadow stamps for the background then the flower stamps, mounted on yellow, then green card with green and yellow ribbon behind it.

The third one was stamped and embossed, then mounted on gold with the corners rounded and the image stamped and embossed again straight onto the card.

The last one we really didnt have much time for, it was stamped with Versamark then chalked, then the paper torn and edges inked, a bit of ribbon down the side with a couple of brads at the top.

I'm falling a bit behind with the photo prompts, but I have managed to do Heart today. This is a heart made with Hama beads which my children made for me.
