Spiderman

No photos today I'm afraid. I'm just back from taking Andrew to the pictures to see Spiderman 3. I didn't think it was one of the best films, but Andrew seemed to enjoy it. Although I love Superhero movies I've never really liked the Spiderman films much (probably cause I hate spiders!!!). This one was full of angst and Spiderman having to decide between good or bad, and about his ongoing love life. Just in case you go to see it, I wont spoil it, suffice to say that he turns out OK in the end, although a few tears are shed along the way. The film I really want to go to see is Pirates of the Caribbean, it doesnt matter how long it is - it's got Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp in it! Hope to go maybe next weekend.

Bank Holiday

It's been a strange day here, as we don't actually get the Bank Holiday, the children have been at school all day! The banks and some of the shops in the town shut but others were open. The sun shone but it was a bit windy. If you had a holiday today I hope you enjoyed it.

This school term is really long, 13 weeks, and we have only had 1 day holiday! We are now half-way through with only 6 weeks still to go.

I did this double LO at my monthly crop on Saturday. It is of my 40th birthday (some seven years ago now). The paper is Basic Grey Gypsy and involved lots of cutting out flowers, which I love doing. I really enjoy just cutting bits of paper and like doing decoupage.

Challenge

Went to my monthly crop yesterday, which was fun. Here is a LO I did for our team challenge on UKS. We were to scrap a favourite place and use two patterned papers. I have done a recent photo of Gardenstown beach and used Basic Grey Fusion and another yellow patterned paper - no name.

In the afternoon we all worked in the garden weeding and cutting down trees, I am now sore today and the garden is not finished yet - but its looking a bit grey today - so might not get out this afternoon.

Busy as a bee

Life has just got busy again at the minute. Yesterday I was at a Study Day for my OU course. It was very good and helpful, but it was a long and tiring day. I haven't managed to do any scrapping this week. This is a photo taken by my husband with the new camera. The number of photos we now have on our hard drive has increased drastically since we got the new camera. I dont know when I'm going to get the time to scrap them all.
This is another photo taken last weekend at Gardenstown.

Gardenstown

We had a brilliant weekend at Gardenstown. Gardenstown is a small fishing village near Banff, on the north east coast of Scotland. It is built on the side of a very steep cliff! The friends house we were staying in is right on the front on the sea wall and has a fantastic view out to sea. I spent most of the weekend just watching the waves crashing over the rocks. The weather, although not as good as it has been, was fine. It didn't actually rain at any time.
On the Saturday morning it was good enough for the boys to go in the water and play at chasing the waves. They didnt stay in for very long and it was very cold!!! They really enjoyed themselves though.

On the Sunday night there was a fantastic sunset, so Gordon went out with his new tripod to take some photos. The difference that having a digital camera makes is great because we took so many photos just trying to get them right, and if we don't like them we don't need to keep them. I'm so glad we bought our camera.

It was a great break and even though we were tired by Monday night after the long drive (7 hours) it was well worth it. Although Andrew was 'exhausted' by the time he came home from school on Tuesday, but being the bad parents we are we sent him to his swimming lesson, only for Gordon to be called over the tannoy after ten mins to go and get him. He was too 'exhausted' to swim he said and couldn't go on. I'm so glad it wasn't me that had taken him this week.

1st Birthday

I know John's first birthday was actually 12 years ago, but I have finally got around to scrapping it. This LO was done for the monthly House Challenge on UK Scrappers. The challenge this month was sponsored by Banana Frog, so of course I just had to use some of my fabby Banana Frog stamps. If you haven't checked them out then you really must, their stamps are super! Banana Frog have also just set up a blog, so go check it out too.

We're off tomorrow for the weekend, going up North to Gardenstown, on the north east coast near Banff. It's a lovely fishing village set on the side of a hill - very steep drive down!!! We went on holiday there every summer for about 10 years, until a couple of years ago, so we are really looking forward to going back. We have been lucky enough to stay at a friends house which is right on the front, I am hoping the good weather comes back.

Crocs

Still a bit undecided about my Crocs, but I had to scrap them! Did this LO for a team challenge on UK Scrappers, you had to scrap something hot in your wardrobe at the moment - what else could I do?

Yesterday, being a holiday, we went to Glasgow shopping. John had lots of birthday money to spend. He bought himself a Nintendo DS Lite and a pair of K Swiss trainers. He has been after the trainers for ages, so I finally gave in and let him buy a pair! Well Andrew decided that he had money so could he buy a DS Lite, after some discussion we gave him the money we would have for his birthday so he could add his money to it and buy his DS Lite. Anything for a quiet life!!!

National Scrapbooking Day

Today is National Scrapbooking Day and I haven't managed to do a single LO yet!!. My local monthly crop had an extra special crop today, unfortunately I was unable to get to it, but I heard it went very well. There are lots of events going on up and down the country.

I also got my first pair of Crocs today! I have heard so much about these that I thought it was time to try them myself. To be honest I'm still not too sure about them. They are not the most stylish looking shoes in the world and they do take a bit of getting used to wearing. I have had them on all day now and yes they do appear to be comfy, but then I haven't done much walking today. They are better now I've put socks on cos its freezing today!!! Time will tell, I will keep trying them and see what I think.

Workshop

I had another successful workshop on Wednesday night, this time we were doing 3D decoupage. A few of the ladies had tried this before and they all really enjoyed it. This first card we did was using a die cut sheet where all you had to do was pop out the numbered parts and assemble the card. This was the first time I had used a pre-cut sheet as I normally cut out my own pieces, it was fine but I still think I prefer cutting my own pictures.

The second card we did was using pictures that they had to decide what and where to cut themselves, these are the sheets I normally use. They did actually enjoy deciding where and what to cut, and they all though it was good to try something they maybe won't have chosen themselves.

May Day

Well its really warm and sunny here today for May Day. It seems a bit strange for it to be so warm this early in the year, we even had our first wasp in the house today - must go buy more fly spray killer!

Here are another couple of LOs from the cyber crop. This first one was for a class by Maria and is a great idea to use up lots of scraps. All the paper I used on this one came from my bag of scraps. The title is made from squares of thicker cardboard covered in paper, then the letters were cut using Sizzlets alphabet.

The second one was for a class by Lianne. I did my LO as a page for my book of BOM, which now has the grand total of 3 pages in it.
