Area around Whitby

We visited various places around Whitby.

Falling Foss Waterfall and tea rooms - a very steep road down to the waterfall and tea rooms, but well worth a visit. The cakes were lovely.

Ravenscar - the town that never was. In Victorian times they tried to establish a holiday town here between Whitby and Scarborough, but it never really took hold - probably because of the steep climb down to the water, but you get lovely views.

Goathland, which is the village of Aidensfield in Heartbeat.

We were really lucky with the weather - we only had one night of rain and lots of sun without too much heat!

Whitby and area 1

For our second week we stayed in the small village of Aislaby, just outside Whitby, North Yorkshire.

This was the view from our cottage.

We went into Whitby a couple of times.

And of course Andrew needed to get chips!
