A year already!

How can it be a year already since we were doing Summer of Colour 2011 - but it seems to be. I sometimes think it is getting very scary how time seems to be flying past and I don't seem to be getting done all the things I would like to do.

Anyway it is almost time for Summer of Colour 2012. You can find out all about it here at Kristin's blog. Starting on 4 June she will post a different colour each week and you are invited to make something in that colour using whatever medium you want to. This year inspiration will be coming from the colours of  ice-creams.

Last year's Summer of Colour was great fun. You can see my pages in this post here.
So do you like ice cream - are you going to join in?

It's Official

It's official  we are on the move. Yesterday husband Gordon was voted in as the new Minister at Craiglockhart Church in Edinburgh. We will be moving from the west coast of Scotland over to the east coast and back to a city. It is 19 years since I last lived in a city, so I imagine it will take a bit of getting used to. We are hoping to move in July and be all sorted out ready for Andrew to start his new school in August. And of course we will be a lot closer to John who is going to St Andrews University in September. All change.

The bad news is that now I have to think about sorting and clearing out the house ready for the move. We have lived here for 12 years and it is a large house so you can imagine how much stuff we have gathered. Time for a good declutter I think.

It will be a bit of  sad time leaving people that we have shared worship and fellowship with over the past 12 years and the friend that we will be leaving - but there is always Facebook to keep in touch!!

Finding Fun Wk 3

Over at Carolyn's blog Finding Fun Week 3 was about having fun in the kitchen. So of course we had to make something to eat! Yesterday Andrew and I decided to do some simple iced biscuits as we seem to have a lot of packets of digestive biscuits in the cupboard - they must have been on special offer some time. We did make a lot more than these six but they were eaten before I could take a photo. Will need to make some more soon!

Saturday Walk

Yesterday we went another walk as it was a lovely day. This time we found a new place to go, a walk around the pond at Ardwell. It really was a lovely walk and definately somewhere we might go back to. Here are some photos to share.

Finally finished

Once upon a time a little boy asked his Mum to do this cross-stitch kit of a shell pattern for him. At that time the boy and his family were having lots of holidays at the beach and he wanted to remember them. Well his Mum duly bought the kit and started the kit and lo and behold finally finished it last week. Only by this time the little boy had grown up and was now having his 18th birthday! Better late than never.

Now where did I put the Noahs Ark kit that I started when I was pregnant with that same little boy!!!!

How many kits have you got that are started but not yet finished?

Finding Fun Wk 1

As I mentioned in an earlier post Carolyn is hosting a six week event called Finding Fun. I missed Week 1 last week, which was about Walking, so I thought we would catch up today. It was a lovely day today so we went for a walk along Sandhead Beach and took these photos. We had great fun - climbing over rocks and  looking in rock pools for crabs.

The Birthday Boy

Bit belated with this blog post as I have been in bed most of the week with a sore throat, no voice and was full of the cold. The joys of starting to work in a Nursery with small children. Anyway last Friday was John's 18th birthday - I can't really believe that I am old enough to be the mother of an 18 year old - am I??
One auntie thought he still needed a Buzz Lightyear balloon and the other auntie took him out to the pub - welcome to the crazy mixed up world of adulthood John!

Andrew had decided he wanted to bake his cake, so who was I to argue - and it turned out super and tasted yummy!

You know how they say children are really only interested in the paper well that goes for 18 year olds as well - John really liked this wrapping paper and a photo of it is now on his Facebook Timeline!!

As I wasn't feeling too great I didn't take that many photos and have missed the usual ones of the birthday boy with parents etc - so might just have to get dressed up again sometime soon and take some more.

Tomorrow is his last day at Secondary School, he has three exams to go and then that is him finished until after the summer when he starts at St Andrew's University. Today he went to vote for the first time as well - a busy time for him.
