A spending spree

Oh dear I seem to have gone on a bit of a spending spree and added to my wool stash. Fyberspates is changing from an independent dyer to concentrating on her wholesale line, so I really had to buy some of her lovely wool to add to my stash (which I will get round to knitting - eventually)

Oh and before I went on holiday I just had to visit John Lewis sale and got some Rowan Summer Tweed

but I have actually started knitting with the green one!

Summer Holidays Week 2

For the second week of our holiday we crossed over to Northumbria, to the seaside town of Beadnell (which is also where we were last year). The weather was glorious.

The view from the balcony of our holiday home.

Across the beach to Beadnell limekilns.

Summer Holidays Week 1

This year for the first week of our holidays we went again to Keswick in the Lake for the Convention.  The Convention is an annual Christian Convention, the main speaker this year was Vaughan Roberts who was very good. Andrew goes to the Youth Meetings and this year John was able to go to the meetings for 19-24 years old. Both of them really enjoyed the meetings. The weather was good, with only one day of terrible rain.

Derwentwater

Derwentwater again but from a different side.

The boys playing pitch and putt! I wandered round the shops.

The next two are taken from a hill walk - not one I did needless to say.

Our different piles of books we bought to keep us going through the year. This year John's pile was just about bigger than his dads.

Pentecost Cakes

Yesterday was Pentecost when the Church celebrates the coming of the Holy Spirit. On Saturday we had our Messy Church with the theme of Pentecost so we needed tongues of fire cakes! The children all got to decorate a cupcake and these are some that I made for tea after the Sunday service.

Summer's here

Summer is now officially here (even if the weather is a bit doubtful sometimes). My two favourite summer projects have started.

Rinda is again hosting her Summer Scavenger Hunt, she posts a list of things to photograph over the holidays and it is always great fun looking for the items. You can find the details here

The second summer project can be found here. The Summer of Colour has been running now for a couple of years, each week a colour is chosen and you can create whatever you like to represent that colour. Now that my craft area is back in action I am looking forward to this.

Are you joining in on any summer projects?

Missing in Action!

Gosh I didn't realise it was quite as long since I last posted - I will try and do better!

A few weeks ago Gordon and I managed to get away for a couple of night on our own, which was lovely. We went to Slaley Hall, Northumberland. Here are a few photos of our visit.

The other major thing that has been keeping me busy is that I have changed my job. Last week I started a new job with the Salvation Army at their Scotland Office as an Admin Asst. It is more hours and I will be working part of every day - so I will need to be more organised!
