Fun in the Snow

The boys are happy - we finally have some snow for them to play in! It snowed overnight so they got out this morning. I am glad to see they are not too old to play in the snow and had fun making a snowman. We don't have a big garden so they did not have that much room - but it didn't stop them!

The view out the back - before the boys got let out!!

Paper

Thanks to RInda have found a new toy to play with - Paper, a drawing, sketching app for the IPad. You can draw and sketch with it very simply. You only get one tool with it, but you can buy others. This is my first attempt at sketching the view from my window. I don't think I am very good at sketching/painting but it is fun.

Have you tried Paper?

New Book

This book arrived today, One Zentangle a Day, and a new project for me to get into. I have done a little Zentangling before but not much. This book is a 6 week course with 42 daily exercises to try. Looking forward to getting into it.

Intentions

This is really a follow on post from my last one. I thought I should blog about some Intentions for 2013 that I am going to Embrace. Not going for goals as there was a really interesting discussion on a recent Freedom in Christ course that I did about the only real goal for a Christian was to be like Christ and that other things are not goals - anyway that is what I took out of it. So I am going going for Intentions (and this way if I don't get round to them I don't need to beat myself up about it).

I intend to complete the course Write Now that I signed up for last year at Big Picture Classes - it is all printed out and ready to get started.

I intend to continue with my Gratitude Album that Bernice was running in November.

I intend to continue with my weight loss plan and exercise plan and get back to the gym. I have signed up to the Woman and Home online diet, where I can track my weight and track what I eat and it counts how many calories I have left for the day.

I intend to do more reading and to actually go the Book Club (at least once). The books I have started are

and

I shall let you know what I think of them.

I intend to make a dent in my wool stash by actually knitting and crocheting stuff.

I think that is enough Intentions to be getting on with as I want to be able to Embrace whatever opportunities come my way this year.

One Word 2013

After much thought, deliberation and prayer my word for 2013 is

Embrace

The dictionary definition for embrace is:

- to take or receive gladly or eagerly
- accept willingly
- to avail oneself of
- to take in with the eye or the mind

This year I am aiming to Embrace all that is new in my life - new house, new city, new opportunities that will come my way. I will also Embrace all that God puts in my path, and Embrace the person He wants me to be.

Thanks to Melanie at www.onlyabreath.com for making my word button.

Have you chosen a word for the year?

2012 - A Year of Change

Well it's that time of year again, when we look backwards to what has been and start to look forward to what might be. As regular readers will know I have chosen a word for the year for the past few years and my word for 2012 was BE. Not an easy word as it turned out to be a year of many changes in my life and that of my family. Linked to this word BE was the word Trust and throughout the year I have put my Trust in God and He has not failed me.

So some changes in 2012...

The biggest change has obviously been a move to a different city, a different Church and a different house. Not always the easiest and certainly rather stressful. But now at the end of the year I think we are starting to settle here in Edinburgh.

Thankfully a new manse has been bought and we move into it mid-March. Reallly looking forward to finally getting settled (and getting all my craft stash out of storage).  Church life is going well and Andrew has settled into school well.

The other big change this year was that John left home to study at St Andrews University - I can't really believe that he is half way through his first year already! He is getting on well and enjoying himself.

One of the biggest highlights of 2012 for me has to be my graduation in April. I graduated from the Open University with a BA (Hons) in Social Sciences.

Holidaywise this year we went to Keswick in the summer and Amble in October - both good weeks.

Craftwise I have not managed to do very much, I have done some knitting and crocheting, but not as much as I would have liked.

Faithwise I had an uplifting and experience filled weekend at Clan Women in October and have also completed the Freedom in Christ course, which has given me lots to think about, but also helped me in my daily walk with God.

I think I have found it difficult at time during the year to BE - I am better at DOing, but I am learning and getting there slowly.

As for my word for 2013 - well you will have to come back later in the week.
