More Scavenger Hunt Photos

Some more photos for the Scavenger Hunt

10. A bench that is outside (with me sitting on it admiring the view)

 13. A fence

19. A fisherman (honest they are fishing, this was as close as I could get)

20. A dinosaur (we visited the dinosaur exhibition at Keswick especially to get a photo of one)

I have now got 10 out of the 21 items on the list and still have two months to get the rest.

Scavenger Hunt

One good thing about holidays is that it gives lots of opportunities to find photos for Rinda's Scavenger Hunt.

1. Open air market

6. Someone or something taking a nap

7. A sign that is intentionally or unintentionally funny (the boys liked this one as they said that I never park within the lines anyway)

9. Something that is clearly out of place

8. A tower

Holidays Part 2

Our second week was at Keswick in the Lake District and it was still hot. So we only looked at the hills this year and didn't get any walking done. I can't remember the last time is was hot enough in Keswick to be walking about at 10 pm still in our short sleeves!

We were there for the Keswick Convention, which as usual was excellent. The Bible teaching was good and the praise also. This was John's first year at the adult programme and he enjoyed it. Andrew enjoyed the Youth events as always.

Home from Holidays

In case you have been wondering where I have been - we have been on holiday for the last two weeks. The first week we went to Beadnell on the Northumberland Coast and then the second week to Keswick in the Lake District for the Keswick Convention. And boy what weather we got this year. At times it was almost too hot for us so we spent rather a lot of time in the shade!!

The beach at Beadnell

Some people spent a lot of time doing this.

You are never too old to play with a bucket and spade

When at the seaside you need to get chips!
Lots of rock pools to explore

And waves to jump over

A year on

This time last year we were in the middle of boxes and Pickfords vans, as we moved to Edinburgh. I thought I would do a bit of a review of our first year here in the capital city. Sometimes I can't quite believe it has been a year, yet at others Stranraer now feels so far away.

In the past year we have moved (twice), which was not easy. Staying in the temporary rented house was not easy, it was difficult to settle when you didn't know how long it would be for, and space was cramped. But we are now in our lovely house and feel a lot more settled - I have even got my craft space sorted out. (promise to actually take some photos of the house soon)

I have found a part-time job as a Reception/Admin person at a Church run charity for drugs and alcohol counselling. I work two days a week, which is OK for now, but I might want more hours at some future date, when the rest of my life settles down (if it ever does).

I have managed to get to various Christian run courses in the past year - Freedom in Christ, the Grace Course, Exploring Prayer, Clan Women. These have been very helpful in my faith journey and I am sure there are more opportunities out there for me.

My eldest son started University and we have adapted to him leaving home, and coming back again for the summer. My youngest son has settled well in his new school and has made some new friends here.

Church wise I think we have had a good first year. My husband feels settled in the charge and looking forward to the challenges ahead. I have found it a bit difficult to get to know people as the church is bigger and a different community than we have been used to. I have also found it a bit difficult to know what my role should be, as I think it will be different to what I was doing before.

Edinburgh as a city is growing on me as I begin to find my way about. During this current hot weather I have enjoyed going to Princess Street Gardens to sit and eat my lunch.  I have also joined a Book Group which is good as it is encouraging me to read more and try out some different types of books.

There are still some things I miss about Stranraer, mainly people, and my Friday 4o'clock coffee with friends.

It has been a hard year, tiring at times, with lots of changes and things going on, some tears along the way, but we know that God has been with us at all times, and that we are where He wants us to be.

My word for this year is Embrace and looking back at what I have just written I think I have made a good start on the word and am looking forward to the next half of the year and the opportunities and new things that God will place in my way.

If you chose a word for the year how are you getting on with it?

Little Details

For this week's Little Details hosted by Carolyn I wanted to share this photo with you.

When tidying up the garden we found this tub hidden under some trees with this Clematis  in it. We dug it out and staked it up and are happy to see it flowering now. It just shows that when brought out into the light and given a little care that things can flourish and flower again.

Little Details

Carolyn has a weekly meme called Little Details, I don't always manage to join in but took this photo of a cactus which sits on the study window. I like it as it has tiny red dots all over it which gives it a bit of colour. There are three different cacti which sit on the window sill.

Garden in June

I nearly forgot to take a photo of my garden June for the 12 months in view project, but luckily I remembered only two days late. So here it is.

Summer of Colour Week 4

This week the colour was Charcoal Grey and Pale Pink. I coloured the background with watercolour pencils then added the images using napkins and gel medium. Why not pop over to http://www.twinkletwinklelikeastar.blogspot.co.uk/ and see more creations.

Summer of Colour Weeks 2 and 3

OK I give in - I have no idea why my pictures are appearing on their side, I did not turn the camera when taking them. When uploaded to Picasa 3 they were turned on their sides - I then rotated them and they look fine on Picasa, but then turn themselves back on their sides when uploaded her. Any helpful ideas/hints would be appreciated.

Anyway for Week 2 of Summer of Colour the colour to work with was Orange and Hot Pink,

Week 3 was Lime Green and Purple. You can see what other people have done here
