A weekend away

Every weekend at the moment seems to have something going on. Last weekend I met up with my friend, Pauline from Aberdeen. We stayed at The Murraypark Hotel, Crieff - it was lovely. Good food, nice surroundings and good company.

On the Saturday we visited Karelia House Crafts. A real treasure house of different crafting materials - knitting, quilting, felting, stamping, scrapbooking. They also do yummy cakes and scones. So of course I just had to buy a little bit wool - well it would have been rude not to!!

I got a hank of a lace weight wool, 70%alpaca/20%silk/10%cashmere. It feels lovely and soft. What am I going to knit - well I have not actually decided that yet!!

This weekend is also busy - a certain son has a certain birthday - photos will be posted next week.

Finding Fun

Photobucket

I am sure you will agree that we could all do with some FUN in our lives. A chance to just play and maybe rediscover the child within you. Well if that sounds like fun then head over to Carolyn's blog. Carolyn is hosting a 6 week event, where every week she will choose a theme and invite us to have FUN with that theme. Full details are on her blog.

Hope to see you there.

Graduation Day

Last week was a busy but also peaceful week. Eldest son was away at Scripture Union camp, while the youngest went to stay with his Auntie in Glasgow for a few days. The week finished with my Graduation Day in the Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow, which we all managed to get to. You may remember that I have been studying for the last five years with the Open University and have now graduated with a BA (Hons) Social Sciences. I really enjoyed all the studying, but am also glad that it is now finished.

He is Risen!

Jesus has overcome
and the grave is  overwhelmed
The Victory is won
He is risen from the dead

Words from this Chris Tomlin song "I will rise".

May you know the truth of the Risen Lord this Easter Day.

A Pause in Lent 5

I really wanted to finish my Pause in Lent thoughts with this last virtue - Kindness: Pursuit of  Love.

As we enter Holy Week and follow Jesus to the Cross and then on to the empty tomb, I thought that Pursuit of Love was a most suitable thought to take with me this week. All that Jesus did for us this week was in love and for love.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

May you pursue love this week as you think of all that He did for us, and may you experience His love for you in your life.

A Pause in Lent 4

Sorry about not posting my Pause in Lent last Sunday - I really don't know what happened to the time!! I have been working full-time for the last week and  a half and have just been sooo tired at nights. The schools are now on holiday for two weeks so hopefully I will have a bit more time - although have a huge list of jobs to be done in the house and the garden. After Easter I will be starting work every morning in the Nursery until the summer holidays and am really looking forward to it.

For a Pause in Lent last week it was Patience: Pursuit of Peace. Well I am most certainly not a patient person and do struggle with wanting things to happen NOW, but am slowly learning to Trust in God and in his timing.

When you think of Peace, what do you think of - a calm sea, a peaceful country scene. We do often have similar ideas when we think of peace. The Bible speaks of peace a lot, about God's peace dwelling in us. I remember reading a book a long time ago, I can't even remember now what book it was, but it had this picture of peace in it. There was a painting entitled Peace, it was of a raging storm, wild winds, heavy rain, not your usual sort of idea of Peace, but in the corner of the picture in a bush was a bird's nest with a bird in it - safe and secure. This has always made me think of the Peace that God gives - the peace that we can have with him, despite what turmoil is going on around us. May the Peace of God be with you today.
